MADE OUT OF BABIES

I think that the line-up in MOOB
MOOB

is the same since Trophy, right ? However, it's very stable. Let's start out with a little member introduction, anyway ! Do you have a theory upon this stability ?

Matt Egan plays drums, Cooperplays bass, Julie Christmas sings and I (Brendan) play guitar. We have moments of instability. We all genuinely like each other and know that this is not an easy thing to do and just respect each other for the commitment we have made to each other. We talk shit about each other and even have periods where we can't stand the sight of each other. But when we are apart for too long we miss each other and we especially miss what happens when we all play music together. We all have different projects that we work on but we all always come back to this happier and more productive than ever.

The Ruiner was released by The End Records, unlike the other ones that
Were released by Neurot Records. Any issues with them ?

No just time for a change.

For The Ruiner, you worked with Andrew Schneider. For the previous album, Coward, Steve Albini was in the game. I think you appreciated his natural way of working. Why choosing Andrew Schneider this time ? What did he bring different from Steve Albini ?

We picked Andy because we felt he knew exactly where we were going, made an effort to be involved all through the process, gets great sounds and is really concerned with the performance. He is also local, and treated it like he was part of the band. I now kind of consider him a member of the band. I used to think it would e cool to always work with different people. But now I kind of can’ imagine working with anyone else.

When Julie Christmas goes up on stage, she looks like being controlled by another personality, just like entering a transe-like state. It's quite confusing, so is this personality. Can we have an explanation ?

We are all many people in one. Some don't let it out. I think when we play we just let it out. Bad or good, entertaining or not. No one could ever say we're faking it and that is the most important to us. We know we are not the best musicians or the greatest band but when we play we are completely natural and hold nothing back. What else could anyone ask for?

The MOOB

lyrics look like matching perfectly with Julie's way of singing. We can hardly imagine someone else singing these songs. Who writes the lyrics ? Do the other members keep an eye on them ?

Julie writes the lyrics, I write the guitar parts, Cooper writes the bass parts and Matt writes the drum parts. We all keep an eye on what the other is doing and make suggestions and voice our opinions, but never does any one persons say dictate a song. The songs are what they are because all 4 of us are involved. They would never be the same with other people.

As I said, I think it's very hard thinking someone else singing MOOB

songs. Have you ever heard of a MOOB

cover-band ?

No, that would probably be horrible.

You toured Europe for each of your albums. Is that important for you to
tour and to be on stage ?

Depends which of us you ask. I love to play. I don't care so much that it is in front of a crowd but just that I am able to play and let loose playing this music with these people. We do love to play in Europe though and the people there treat us great.

Musically, MOOB

stands in different styles. There's power, tense, a noise inspiration, metal riffs, ambiances... In ONE word, how would you describe your music ?

Us.

Could you imagine MOOB

still on stage when you're as old as the Rolling Stones

? Would Julie Christmas still have enough breath ?

No way. Each time we play I kind of expect us to implode.

A little word on BATTLE OF MICE

the side-project ? How did this project stard ? What's its future right now ?

...
(no answer)

Are there any (non-) musical projects involving the band members ?

...
(no answer)

Alread thinking about the 4th album ? If so, can we already know more about this ?

It will be even better.
